ABOUT

Morro Bento Alves — popularly known as Morro do Miguel — is the highest point of Ilha do Mel, at 151 meters altitude. It is here that the 3 water tanks supplying the entire island are located. From the top, the view is the most complete of all Ilha do Mel: southern beaches, Mar de Fora, Encantadas, and, on the horizon, the continental coast. The hill is formed by crystalline basement rocks cut by basalt dikes, which create the cliffs and caves of the southern region.

✨ HIGHLIGHTS

  • Highest point of Ilha do Mel (151m)
  • Most complete 360° view of the island
  • 3 water tanks that supply the island

💡 TIPS

  • Steep climb in the final sections — sneakers required
  • Bring plenty of water — there is no infrastructure
  • Leave early from Encantadas for a clear view
  • Combine with Praia do Miguel (descend on the other side)
