ABOUT
Morro das Encantadas (68m altitude) is the migmatite hill where the famous Gruta das Encantadas was formed. Differential erosion between the crystalline basement rocks and the diabase dikes created the fissure that gave rise to the cave and the mermaid legend. It is formed by migmatite divided by a diabase vein — the less resistant black rock that was carved by the sea over millennia.
