ABOUT
Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres is the only 18th-century military monument in Paraná and a National Historic and Artistic Heritage Site. Built between 1767 and 1769 to protect Baía de Paranaguá from Spanish invasions and pirates, its 1.5-meter-thick walls preserve English and Portuguese cannons from the 18th and 19th centuries. The complex includes the Labirinto dos Canhões at the top of the hill, World War II trenches, the visitor center and a panoramic viewpoint. It's a 3.7 km flat trail from Nova Brasília (1h) or 10 minutes by boat.
