Vila de Brasília — officially Nova Brasília — is the largest and busiest village on Ilha do Mel. With about 400 inhabitants, it concentrates the best tourist infrastructure: dozens of inns, varied restaurants, bars with live music (Toca do Abutre, Forró do Wando), school, health post, and Environmental Police station. It is the gateway for those arriving at the main pier and the ideal base for exploring the north of the island: Farol das Conchas (30 min), Praia Grande (25 min), Fortaleza (1h), and the Istmo. It is divided into Brasília center, Vila do Farol, and Praia Grande.
