Vila das Encantadas — also known as "Prainhas" — is the southernmost village on Ilha do Mel. With about 200 inhabitants, it has a younger and more laid-back vibe than Nova Brasília. The infrastructure is simpler but sufficient: affordable inns, seafood restaurants, bars with live music, and the famous Shams Bar. It is the ideal base for exploring the south of the island: Gruta das Encantadas (10 min), Bacia da Sereia (15 min), Morro do Sabão (25 min), and the deserted Praia do Miguel (30 min). The Encantadas pier receives boats from Pontal do Sul.
