ABOUT
Ilha do Mel is the largest island in Baía de Paranaguá, with 2,762 hectares (27.5 km²) of total area. It stretches approximately 11 km from north to south and has 35 km of sandy coastline. About 94% of its area is preserved (restinga + Atlantic Forest), with only 120 hectares (~4%) occupied by villages. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Paraná and one of the main ecotourism destinations in southern Brazil. The island restricts the use of motor vehicles, with access mainly on foot or by bicycle.
