ABOUT

Ilha da Galheta lies 2 km north of Ilha do Mel and is a natural sanctuary for exclusively scientific use, managed by IAP (Instituto Ambiental do Paraná). Access is restricted to researchers and biologists, but its surroundings are a mandatory stop on boat tours through Baía dos Golfinhos. The natural pools formed between the rocks at low tide are the main attraction of the nautical tours that circle the island. It is common to spot schools of fish, starfish, and, with luck, bottlenose dolphins in the surrounding waters.
